9 Oct Dave Allen won the Yorkshire Championship at Strensall. David Taylor was top scoring visitor and Bill Flentje won the Autumn Aggregate. Dave Archer picked up the Centenary Bowl. Sarah Jane Binder wins the Silver Cross for winning the 2nd Stage of the St. George's. 28 June David Taylor wins the YRA Spring Open, prompting the webmaster to attempt more weak sports journalist type puns for headlines. Full results now uploaded, take a look. 27 June County of Lancaster continue their strong form and win the KGV Heat by 4 points from Yorkshire, on a high scoring day at Strensall. Full results now uploaded. 18 June Yorkshire were 7th overall at the Inter-Counties. Full results now uploaded. Contact John Warburton as soon as possible with your team availability for this season. 29 September Bill Flentje of Altcar RC produced record breaking scores and a clean sweep of the cups at the Autumn Open. Simon Dench held off the challenge of Steve Robinson to win the Yorkshire Championship by 3 V bulls. Huddersfield take the team cup. 29 September Huddersfield show their strength in depth to win the Bingham Shield and the Team of Eight against Leeds. Jon Swash does the double of top score in Astor and Bingham, dropping his last (!) for 149.20. 27 August Well done to Georgie Ogden and Chelsea Edwards, touring Canada with the GB Athelings. In the Governor General's Prize Georgie finished 21st and Chelsea 43rd. In the Grand Aggregate Georgie finished 50th and Chelsea 83rd. Some good badges to add to the collection! 20 August Yorkshire finished 5th in the KGV English County Championship, 9th in the County Short and 15th in the County Long. All results now uploaded. 15 July New caps for Richard Hirst, Iain Power and Arthur Nicholl as Yorkshire win the Northern heat and go to the final at Bisley on Thursday. Results now uploaded. 23 June Due to high winds the KGV Heat at Battle Hill had to be called off, and is rescheduled for Sat 12 July at Brockholes. Directions from the link below left. 15 June The Yorkshire team competed in the Inter-Counties, finishing 4th in the Col. H. Jones and 7th in the Long Range. Results now uploaded. 8 June Leeds had a good day at Strensall, where Roger Quy and John Stevens won individual cups and the team took the Chairman's Tankard. Colin Goad was top score on the day. Results now uploaded. 31 May Huddersfield won the Astor heat at Strensall and go through to the final at Bisley in July. New caps Ian Power and Richard Hirst make a good impression on the team score. 7 April Latest news from the GB tour to South Africa - not only have the team won the Protea Match for the first time in 20 years, but Dave Dyson has won the State President's Final! The YRA Spring Open has been booked for Sunday 8th June at Strensall. (Entry forms available after Easter). The date of Sunday 31st August has been set aside for either YRA Autumn or Bingham Shield. 10 March To all affiliated club secretaries: please contact me with information and I will get it uploaded into a new club page format. I would like a brief description of the club, disciplines, facilities, directions, plus photos and a good quality club badge or logo if you have one. 1 March Most dates have been added to the calendar on the right. First team get-together will be for the Purples Match at Bisley. 27 Sept 2007 Huddersfield won the Bingham Shield at Brockholes, with a new record score. Huddersfield also took the Team of Eight cup, with David Dyson the top score on 150.20. 27 Sept 2007 All results for the YRA Autumn now uploaded. John Stevens won the Championship and Autumn Aggregrate, with Huddersfield taking the team cup. 6 Sept 2007 County of Lancaster won the Roses Match by 4 points on a blustery day at Altcar. Steve Wilson held on for a commendable 148.20. Full results now uploaded. 6 Sept 2007 David Young won the YRA Spring overall, with Steve Wilson taking a couple of cups and Huddersfield the team trophy. Full results now uploaded. 6 Sept 2007 Congratulations to Dave Dyson who helped Great Britain retain the Palma World Long Range Championships in Canada. Congratulations also to Alex Hoyle who was in the winning Under 25 team. 15 August Yorkshire faired mixed results in the team matches, coming last in a high scoring KGV final, higher up the list in the County Short and well down in the Long. Dave Dyson did well individually coming 13th in the Grand Agg and was reserve for the GB Kolapore match. Full results will be posted soon. 23 June Yorkshire won the Northern Heat for the English County Championship, with the match being rescheduled at Altcar. The team scored 1170 followed by Lancashire on 1161, Northumbria 1159 and Cheshire 1156. Results now uploaded. INTER-COUNTIES RESULTS Yorkshire were 2nd in the Lt. Col. H. Jones and 12th in the Long Range. Full results now uploaded. APRIL 2007 Yorkshire 'A' finished 6th in the Purples Match at Bisley, behind an impressive winning score. They also saw success in a friendly match against Berkshire and Hampshire. Results now uploaded after an epic typing session by the tireless webmaster. APRIL 2007 Congratulations to Ian Davison, selected for Great Britain tour to SA. APRIL 2007 Congratulations to Dave Dyson who has made the Great Britain team for the Palma World Long Range Championships in Canada 2007. He will also Vice-Captain GB in South Africa 2008. Alex Hoyle will also be in Canada in 2007 with the GB Under 25 team. APRIL 2007 Leeds Service RC won the Astor preliminary heat and go through to the final at Bisley. They won it by 4 points from Huddersfield, with Sheffield 3rd and Leeds and Huddersfield B teams 4th and 5th. Ken Firth was top score on the day with 104.13. Full results in the results section. JANUARY 2007 Most Yorkshire team fixtures are now confirmed. Contact John Warburton if you wish to be considered for selection. Other fixtures for 2007 will be published as soon as possible. JULY 2006 Yorkshire return home with mixed results in the team matches at Bisley. John Warburton, Dave Dyson and Ian Davison finish in the top 50 of the Grand Aggregate. John Warburton, Dave Dyson, Steve Merton Jones and Sarah-Jane Binder reach the HM Queen's final. John, Ian and Dave also reach the St. George's final. John and Ian are selected for the winning England team in the National. John is selected for England again, who win the Mackinnon, and Dave is Adjutant. JUNE 2006 John Stevens wins the YRA Open at Altcar. Local lad David Taylor wins the Coronation Cup and Newcastle take the team trophy. JUNE 2006 Yorkshire pull off a brilliant finish to win the KGV Heat by 7 V bulls from Cheshire. Going into the last range they are 3rd behind Northumberland and Cheshire but the last 4 down get 50s to steal the match. JUNE 2006 Yorkshire finish a creditable 3rd in the Col. H. Jones, 5th in the Long Range and 5th overall. Yorkshire B meanwhile win the Clive Amstein memorial match to complete a good weekend. APRIL 2006 Despite the best efforts of V-C John Stevens to badly organise things, Yorkshire 'A' finished a creditable 5th in the Purples. Yorkshire 'B' were somewhat stretched, but nevertheless it was good to see two Yorkshire teams out. In the friendly match versus Hampshire and Berkshire, Stuart Comins coached the winning Yorkshire six. APRIL 2006 Much needed improvements are currently being made to update the YRA site. MARCH 2006 Congratulations to all the shooters who represented the home countries so well at Melbourne. In particular to Mick Gault and Charlotte Kerwood, and to Glyn Barnett and Parag Patel, the fullbore pairs gold medal winners for England. Did you know Glyn was born in Bradford??! There's never been a better time to take up shooting! JAN 2006 John has taken over from Stuart Comins as County Captain. John Stevens will take on a role as Vice-captain, with John Holmes continuing as Adjutant. So for all enquiries - just ask John.
